Leading up to your pet's flight, they will need to receive a health certificate filled out and signed by a licensed veterinarian. Also known as a CVI (Certificate of Veterinarian Inspection), this form must be filled out within 10 days of the date of the flight. Puppies and kittens do not need an official health certificate, but we will need all available health documents provided by your breeder prior to the day of the flight. Note that puppies and kittens must be at least 8 weeks of age in order to fly in-cabin domestically.
Your Dog Hop Flight Companion will provide an airline-approved pet carrier for use with your pet during the flight. To reduce the stress on your pet, you can ask your pet's veterinarian during their health certificate appointment about options for calming medication. There are also some over-the-counter options available as an alternative.
Your pet's Flight Companion will meet you or your breeder at the departures area at the origin airport to pick up your pet on the day of the flight. Your Flight Companion will take special care of your pet and remain by their side throughout the entire transport process. They will navigate through airport security together and your pet will sit in their carrier by the feet of their Flight Companion for the duration of the flight. Upon arrival at the destination airport, your pet's Flight Companion will meet you at the airport's arrivals area. If preferred, Dog Hop can arrange to deliver your pet directly to your home for an added cost.
Dog Hop works with One Tree Planted to plant 15 trees for every domestic airline flight that one of our pet Flight Companions takes. That will equal 30 trees planted for every trip booked when accounting for the return flight home. A flight from Boston to Los Angeles produces roughly 360 kg of CO2 per passenger. An adult tree can remove approximately 25 kg of CO2 from the atmosphere every single year. Our 30 trees that we plant each trip will remove the CO2 that Dog Hop was responsible for generating in about one year. Over their 100-year lives, those 30 trees will collectively help to remove around 75,000 kg of CO2.
